Punjab summer vacation extension challenged in court by private schools

Punjab government has changed the schedule of summer vacations for schools. According to education minister, Rana Sikander Hayat the students upto 8 class will be back to school from 1st september, however the students of 9th, 10th, O/A level and intermediate will join their classes from August 18. This decision will be applicable to private and public educational institutes.
According to officials, this change is done with expert opinion according to weather conditions and considering educational requirements. Before this, summer vacation were increased while keeping in view of heat wave, but now priortizing the exams schedule of senior students, the dates have been changed. Intermediate classes will also start from August 18 so that it does not effect the board preparations. However, little children have given extra time to keep them safe from heat wave.
All Pakistan Private Schools and Management Association (APPSMA) has severely criticized this decision that it is damaging the students education and there is less time for syllabus completion. They have announced to approach of Rawalpindi Bench of Lahore High Court.
APPSMA has said that other provinces and federal institutions are open, but students in Punjab are unnecessarily kept at home, which is damaging the education growth. Parents and school owners have also called this decision unjust and demanded to open the school immediately. Now the case is in court and it’s decision is the centre of everyone’s attention.
